Local waste service provider, J.P. Mascaro & Sons, is experiencing record growth in the municipality contract sector of its business. In the first quarter of 2007, 22 Pennsylvania municipalities awarded Mascaro community-wide waste collection and recycling contracts valued at almost $50 million. Among the local communities awarding to Mascaro were the Boroughs of Red Hill, Pennsburg and East Greenville as well as the Townships of Lower Pottsgrove and Exeter.

Mascaro is hoping to add the Borough of Phoenixville to its growing list of municipal contracts. Shortly, Borough Council will decide whether to award its next trash and recycling contract to Mascaro, at a guaranteed five year fixed price with substantial savings for Borough taxpayers, or to continue to perform those services in-house with its own sanitation department.

Mascaro, headquartered in Audubon, has contracts with municipalities throughout the Delaware Valley, Lehigh Valley and Wyoming Valley regions of Pennsylvania. The privately owned, family firm has the infrastructural resources that make it a major and growing supplier of waste services to area municipalities. With the recent trend of municipalities contracting with a single hauler to provide waste services for the entire community, Mascaro is looking forward to and anticipating continued growth in this sector of its business.

The company’s commitment to the communities it serves goes way beyond the contracts it performs as evidenced by Mascaro’s new “RESPECT” Program which is now being presented to children in area elementary schools and which focuses on the importance of respect in their lives, including respect for the environment.
