MASCARO AWARDED FIVE-YEAR $3.6 MILLION DOLLAR TRASH CONTRACT BY LOWER POTTSGROVE TOWNSHIP

In 1974, Lower Pottsgrove Township was the first Montgomery County municipality to award a Township-wide trash contract to local waste hauling company, J. P. Mascaro & Sons.

Mascaro has provided waste collection services to Lower Pottsgrove and its residents for many years, and it will continue to do so for at least the next five years.  On December 5, 2011, the Township Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to award Mascaro a five year contract for the collection and recycling of residential waste in Lower Pottsgrove.  The contract is valued at $3.6 million dollars.

Speaking to the contract award, company President, Pat Mascaro, said, “Our company has had a long relationship with Lower Pottsgrove Township.  We have had the privilege of serving the Township and its residents for many years, and we look forward to continuing to do so for the next five years.”

Mascaro’s new contract starts on January 1, 2012, and it includes once a week curbside collection of trash and recyclables and leaf/yard waste collection as designated by the Township.  Lower Pottsgrove Township is one of the many Montgomery County municipalities that avails itself of the economic and efficiency advantages that come from awarding its trash and recycling contract to a single vendor pursuant to competitive bids.

Mascaro will serve the Lower Pottsgrove contract from its Berks operating division, as it has in the past.
