Residents shouldKnow what services are included in Mount Pocono’s Comprehensive Waste Collection and Recycling Program.
• Utilize program services and follow program rules.
• Properly containerize/bag waste to prevent litter.
• Increase recycling; it’s good for the environment and it saves the town money.
• Call Mascaro at 1-800-243-7575 if there is a service issue. We will respond.
Holidays If your collection day falls on a holiday it will be collected one day late. Trash and recycling collection will resume on the next day. Holidays Are: New Year’s Day (January 1), Memorial Day, Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day (December 25).

Trash and Recyclables are collected on Mondays, Beginning at 6:00 AM.
Put everything out the night before. Refer to the Calendar for your Collection day.

These items can be commingled in any recycling bin |
Cans
Aluminum beverage cans and steel and tin food cans. Please rinse the can and remove the lid or push it into the can. No need to remove labels.
No foil or food trays, please!
Glass
Food and beverage containers such as jars and bottles only! Clear, green or brown glass. Remove lids and rinse. Leave labels on.
No light bulbs, mirrors, window glass, etc. Cans and glass may
be mixed together in the same recycling container.
Plastics
#1 and #2 food and beverage and detergent containers only. The number is on the bottom of the bottle. Most soda, milk, and water bottles fit this category.
Cardboard
Flatten and bundle with twine in bundles no larger than 3' long x 2' wide x 1' high. Do not include single layer boxes such as cereal, pizza, cracker, etc. Also, no wax-coated boxes or boxes that are food, paint or oil contaminated.
Paper
Newspapers, magazines, office paper, and phone books less than an inch and a half thick must be tied in bundles or bagged with paper grocery bags and placed at the curb. |

Rules About Trash Collection for Mount Pocono borough
Trash
The container limit is three. Do not put trash or recyclables out prior to 24 hours before collection. All trash must be in trash cans with lids on, not in plastic bags. No more than three trash cans per household.
Trash Containers
For trash use 32 gallon plastic containers with tight fitting lids. Plastic bags that are not in containers are not allowed in the Borough.
Bulk Waste
There is a 1 bulk item per week limit, this Includes furniture mattresses, large carpets, major appliances, etc; Picked up on regular collection day; limit one bulk item per week; major appliances by appointment, call us at 1-800-243-7575.
Homeowner and renters must contact separately for move out clean ups, remodeling, construction and demolition debris. Contact J. P. Mascaro & Sons at 1-800-243-7575.
Leaf collection
collected curbside on these Leaf pick-up dates: 5/10/08, 10/25/08, 11/1/08 and 12/6/08
No Hazardous Wastes
Car batteries, gasoline, motor oil, pesticides, oil-base paints and other toxic and hazardous materials do not belong in the trash! Call the Monroe County Municipal Waste Authority at (570) 643-6100, for information on disposing of these materials.Many auto stores accept used motor oil and car batteries.
Please No Home Construction or Demolition Debris!
If you’re putting on a new roof or remodeling your house, you need to make special arrangements with us or another waste hauler to remove the debris. Call 1-800-243-7575 for more information. |
